Who would have guessed that one little village would have carried three names during its existence? Before our current name of Giltner, this town was also known as Huntington and later called Broomfield. In 1895, it was changed to the name of Giltner to honor Father Giltner, a revered Presbyterian minister.

Fire & Rescue Service
Residents are protected by a volunteer fire and rescue force. Call 911 to report an emergency. While some funds are provided by the village, much of this service is paid for by the Giltner Rural Fire District. If you are interested in serving, talk to any member. The Giltner library, located at 4020 N Commercial Avenue, is open Monday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., and every 2nd and 4th Saturday from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.
